Getting your kitchen and bathroom into shape on a budget
Are you struggling to sell your property? Don’t just blame Brexit! It’s often said that the kitchen and bathroom are the rooms likely to sell a property, and if yours aren’t up to shape they could be the reason why your property isn’t selling.
Here are a few quick tips to get your kitchen and bathroom into shape on a budget.
One quick way of transforming the look of a kitchen is to simply paint the doors and drawer fronts, or even glue thin MDF to the cabinets which will instantly change the style of the room.
De-clutter all worktops to give an illusion of more space and cleanliness. If your kitchen is small, consider using microwave brackets or a nice wall shelve to get your microwave off the worktop. If you have a high ceiling with space between it and the wall units, consider buying attractive baskets or boxes to create extra storage and place any unnecessary worktop items in there.
Studies have shown that having a place to shower is essential, so if your bathroom doesn’t have a shower, it may be letting you down. However, there is an incisive answer – simply replace the bath taps with a bath-shower mixer tap, which allows bath taps with a shower hose and head.
Steam-clean tile grouts to make them come out white again. If that doesn’t work, then simply apply group paint to re-whiten them.
If you don’t have tiles in your bathroom, consider painting some wall stripes to bring a bit of design attention to the room.
Update light fixture, sink faucets, towel racks and drawer pulls for a small investment. These little details might seem insignificant, but can make a big difference in your bathrooms look.
If your bath or shower has seen better days and can’t afford to replace it, get it professionally relined.
Freshly painted walls make a huge difference to the appearance of a property. Consider re-painting your walls a neutral colour, which can help sell your property.
If you have wood in your rooms, try giving them a fresh coat or two of paint, which will make a big difference to any room.
