London property values soar by 32%
Property prices in London have risen by 32% whilst northern towns have slumped by 23% say figures released by the office for National Statistics last week. Prices in West London have risen by as much as 550% since 1995 whereas Bradford West in the north has only risen by 116% in the same period, creating large differences between the north and south of the UK.
Although Bradford West suffered the worst drop in the country, Blaydon in the North East has also seen homes fall by 5%, as has Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
North Durham MP Kevan Jones blames the current Government saying: ‘These figures highlight the development of a two-speed Britain under the Tories, with a booming South and a stagnating North’.
Only time will tell if this pattern is set to continue.
